Summer Vacations - 2006! Granbury, Texas

So, you decided to continue with us to Granbury. Okay, it's your time! When we arrived in Granbury, we found that there was a lot of activity on the square. In addition to a car show, there was live entertainment and even an Elvis impersonator contest. While in Granbury, we stayed at the Pomegranate House, which boasts two rooms and three cottages. We stayed in Camille's Cottage, which was a little too foo-foo for us. Still, our hosts (Betty and Tommy Potts) were very gracious, and run a top-notch place. Judging from the empty plates at the table, breakfast was pretty good, too! Anyway, here are some photos from the Granbury area. We didn't see as much as there was, but, hey, we were tired and the Mavericks playoff game was on that night. We elected to save the drive-in theater for another trip.

Memorial Day weekend in Granbury is quite busy There was an old car show, as well as live entertainment available for us to explore. While the Elvis impersonators weren't exactly top notch, the cars were very nice. C took the shot of the clock tower on the left, while R found this Elvis wannabe scoping out the competition on the square. |

Shown above are a few of the cars that were on display. Oh, and of course there's R's gratuitous self portrait. |

One of the highlights of Granbury (at least to Roger) was the old Hood County Jail. It was built in 1885, and remained in service until 1978. The cells were very interesting. Cindy did not want to go in - I can't imagine why. And no, despite the ghost in the window, no executions ever took place in the building.
