Summer Vacations - 2006! Madison, Wisconsin |
||||
|
Well, it's been over a month since we returned from Madison. We're still reeling over the 2,200+ mile trip, and the opportunity to see Ben and the Madison Scouts perform in the SCI World Championships. The only thing I would change would be to fly instead of drive. Three days each way in a car is too much for me! As is the MaconPix custom, R took a lot of photos. This page is primarily dedicated to Madison. DCI favorites may be found at the Scouts page here. |

As you probably remember from sixth grade Geography, Madison is the capitol of Wisconsin, and home to a beautiful capitol building. The dome is reminiscent of that one in Texas. We stayed on the square, directly across from the capitol building. R ventured out on Saturday morning, sans Cindy, and found a delightful farmer's market in progress. After C found her way down, we made our way around the square a couple of times, sampling all sorts of fruits, vegetables, and exotic meats. |

Oh, but this was about Madison, not the weird stuff those people eat. Here's another photo from inside of the capitol, as well a shot of a little guy who was just taking all the action of the farmer's market in. |

In addition to the scenery, there were a few interesting people hanging around the square. It was easy to see the the folks in Madison are not ardent supporters of President Bush by reading the signs. |

And so subtle, too!

Other interesting folks we saw included Abraham Lincoln resting in the shade, and an Australian One Man Band - crikey!. |

After just three days in Wisconsin, we packed it up and headed back to Texas. Before getting home, we passed through Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma. When the dust settled, we had traveled just over 2,200 miles!
