Hail on the Chief!

Pardon the pun there.  We saw quite a hail storm in north Haltom City on the evening of Friday, April 13, 2007.  In fact, the hail was larger than either R or C had seen before (and that's nearly 100 years of experience!).  While we were safe, hail stones were pummeling both of our cars, and broke the windshield of Cindy's car (the one that's paid for, of course).  Things could have been worse, a tornado touched down a few miles south of us on the Haltom City / Fort Worth border.  Several houses in that area were heavily damaged, and one person died after a pile of lumber fell on him.  Anyway, here are a few photos of what we saw here.

This is the largest piece of hail collected from our front yard.  It's roughly 4" x 3" in size.

And here's hail in the front yard about 30 minutes after the storm had passed.

And a couple more of the larger stones that didn't shatter on impact.

The top of R's car.

And C's got it, too.

Looks like C will need a new windshield.
